Here is our latest group update including information about our next meeting on Tuesday 14th December.
CASaV meeting – 14th December
We usually meet on the third Tuesday of the month but this month that would be in the week running up to Christmas. Therefore, we are meeting a week earlier than usual on Tuesday 14th December, starting at 7:30pm, in Stokesley Town Hall. It has been a busy few months, so we thought this month we would reflect on what has been achieved and some ideas for next year along with hot drinks, including mulled wine, and mince pies.
As we have to pay for the hall, we would be grateful for a small contribution towards the cost if you are able to attend.
Retrofitting – learning for North Yorkshire
Friday 19th November
Swainby Church Hall, Church Lane, Swainby DL6 3EA
7.30-9.00pm
Climate Action Stokesley and Villages (CASaV) is very pleased to be able to host Jonathan Atkinson one of the Directors of Carbon Coop in Manchester to tell us about the award winning people powered retrofitting that they have set up in Manchester, focusing on how such a scheme is set up and how it operates. The UK has over 29million homes that require retrofitting, Carbon Coop has developed a process which is successfully retrofitting houses at scale, locally in North Yorkshire few houses have been retrofitted, so we hope to explore the potential to do more locally, get inspiration and set challenging but realistic expectations of what could be achieved.
Who should attend:
If you are interested in improving retrofitting in your locality and / or you already have great retrofitting going on locally which you can connect others to. CASaV is keen to both learn from best practices locally and across the UK, as well as improving the local network so we can better help each other.
Obviously in a 1-hour meeting Jonathan won’t be able to tell you how to retrofit your house, so we expect to be inspired by the houses that Carbon Coop has retrofitted, but more than this learn about how they have managed to not just do one house but do it for many houses.
Please could you contact us if you plan to attend, just to give an idea of numbers.
Looking forward to seeing you in Swainby on 19th.
