The Climate Action Stokesley and Villages group are prioritising saving what is already here and is local to the area alongside planting more trees through:
- communicating with local people re cutting back ‘weeds’ and the implication on wildlife
- discussing with Parish, Town and District Councils the impact of the use of weedkillers notably Glyphosphates etc on the environment and on people’s health
- giving guidance on best practice for care for verges, tree planting and tree preservation
- developing advice on local tree management plans to protect existing flora and fauna from developers and other threats, particularly given the dramatic impact of Ash die back and other diseases on local trees
- supporting the planting of more trees
