In the autumn lots of apples can go to waste as people don’t have the time to use them. Why not turn them into delicious apple juice or cider?
Apple pressing 2026
Great news – this year CASaV can once again run apple pressing events.
This year, we will be running a couple of public apple pressing sessions in Faceby.
• 27th September: 30 minute slots available to book from 10am, with last slot starting at 2:30pm
•18th October: 30 minute slots available to book from 10am, with last slot starting at 2:30pm
To book a slot, email us or tel. 0777 3048250.
There is a suggested contribution of £5 per slot to cover costs and you will need to bring your own bottles. Details of the option to pasteurise your apple juice on request.
If you would like to book, how many apples approx will you have so that we can judge if you just need a half hour slot and do you want to use the pasteuriser? This year we are going to ask for an extra donation of £5 for using the pasteuriser.
If you would like to help run the sessions please get in touch.
Background
In the past, Moor Sustainable CIC ran a number of apple pressing events in the area and also loaned out the equipment. The Directors of Moor Sustainable decided to wind up the company at the end of March 2022 due to a change in focus of the Directors. Therefore, the apple pressing equipment needed a new home.
Thanks to a donation, CASaV now owns the equipment and run several apple pressing events in the autumn at Faceby.
Moor Sustainable CIC produced a video showing how to use the main pieces of equipment.
