How Repair Cafe Works
- A person arrives at the repair cafe location with items to repair.
- The person is directed to reception, where the whole repair cafe concept is explained to them.
- They are given a Repair Monitor Form and shown how to fill it in.
- Once the Repair Monitor Form is completed then the person is directed to the Triage table. At the triage table the item is entered onto the appropriate Check-in Sheet, assigned a unique “Reference no” which is recorded on the Repair Monitor Form. The person is taken to the appropriate repair area with the item and the Repair Monitor Form.
- Once a repairer is available then the person sits with the item while the repairer works on the repair. The repair monitor remains with the repairer.
- Before leaving the person fills out a feedback form.

Our insurance and risk assessment protocol follows Friends of the Earth’s policies for local groups – Local Action Group Policies.
We carry out electrical safety tests on all electrical items before and after repair. The test before repair means our repairers know what they are getting and after repair ensures that the repaired item is safe to use.
