- Volunteers: Anne, Kate, Simon, Wendy.
- Children’s & Adult Activities: Fresh bean bags for the recycling throwing game (Kate), adult quiz (Andy), UK peas/beans guessing jar using Carlin peas (Wendy), and farmer survey / conversation starter (Simon).
- Visual Aids: Pete’s hourglass demonstration board. May paint a comparison of a standard farm vs. a sustainable farm.

- Monthly Theme Roadmap (leading to Christmas):
- September: Bookbinding/journal-making craft using recycled civil engineering paper and cardboard (Kate).
- October: “Keeping Warm” draft-excluding theme (customizing draft excluders, blankets, cushions).
- November: Christmas decorations (making stars introduced by Ann, culling old decorations for reuse).
- December: Christmas jumper swap.
- Stationery Reuse and Future Reuse Corners at Repair Cafes
- Donation Success: Large volumes received from Robert’s office and Wendy’s husband’s stationary business. Andy Morgan also donated a suitcase of items.
- School Uniform & Cost of Living Policy
- Discussion on Council rules for generic sweatshirts and secondary school ties.
- Noted that Andy Burnham suggested a cap of three school logo items to help parents with the cost of living.
- Community Care Meals & Food Distribution Gaps
- Noted that Town Hall cooking of meals is no longer permitted due to lack of a suitable food license (meals brought from outside).
- Explored Swainby village lunches and GAP as potential food redistribution routes, but both are commercial or have highly fixed menus, making surplus integration difficult.
- Scavenging Event Coordination
- Robert’s event shifted to Saturday, 5th September (previously Sunday, 6th).
- Located at 19 Back Lane, Osmotherley (2:00 PM – 4:00 PM) featuring grapes, walnuts, hazelnuts, apples, plums, and grape juice/wine.
- Coordination: Kate to handle group communications CC’ing Wendy and Becky (Osmotherley Group) so all groups are aligned.
- Promotion: Kate to design a poster. Wendy to print and place copies in Stokesley once details are finalized.
- Action: Kate coordinate and liaise with Robert over the details for the Scavenging event on 5th September in Osmotherley.
- Local Environmental & Community Updates
- Waste Contract Concerns: Call for an independent review of North Yorkshire Council’s contract for Allerton Waste Recovery Park. The plant failed its 5% residual waste recycling target for the 7th consecutive year, reaching only ~1.75%.
- Water Point: A new public water refill point has been successfully installed outside the Stokesley public toilets.
- Helmsley Jumble Sale Trail:
Action: Anne to research Helmsley’s church-fundraising yard sale trail model (£10 map fees) and Guisborough’s Methodist Hall indoor table sales. - Climate Actions in Villages: Still planning an autumn engagement event (nominally October) to recruit more volunteers.
- Repair Cafe Update: Very successful July session in Stokesley with 78 repairs completed. Discussed early queues (9:40 AM peak) and decided to stick to the fixed schedule (2nd Saturday in Stokesley, 3rd in Swainby). Jenny Summerfield successfully onboarded, who will look after Refreshments in October.
