Have a peek inside the new CASaV Share Shed, not yet stocked and running.
One of the best ways to reduce our impact on the planet is not to buy things, so CASaV has set up a virtual share shed.
- If you need something borrow it don’t buy it
- If we have got it, you can borrow it.
- If you have got it, would you be happy to lend it to others?
What is a Share Shed?
The share shed is simply a list of useful items which people in Stokesley and Villages are willing to share with you, you may be a neighbour, a friend or a stranger, but we all want to reduce our communities’ impact on the environment. And it is free at point of use!
CASaV have built this virtual share shed library on the CASaV website. Its contents vary from simple tools to expensive machines, we hope it will include DIY & Tools, Home Maintenance and Cleaning and Gardening Equipment.
We need both borrowers and lenders to make an impact, you are doing good whether you lend or borrow. The more this happens the bigger impact we will have – less CO2 emitted, less minerals mined, less waste generated, ……
How does it work?
The Lender
You decide which items you are prepared to share and give a description of the item eg 3 stage extendable ladder 6 mtrs. The Lender will send the details of the items they want to share by email to waste@climateactionstokesleyandvillages.org with their name, address and contact details, i.e. tel number and email address.
The item will appear on the web site for the borrower to contact the lender through the share shed leader as per the instructions on the web page. The leader will forward the borrower’s details to the lender. The lender will contact the borrower and will agree with the borrower a time, place and location to collect and return the item, as well as the duration the borrower will use the item.
The process of borrowing is solely an agreement between the lender and borrower* eg, suitability, duration of the loaned item, any reimbursement to the lender for any damage that may occur while in the possession of the borrower. The lender’s decision on all aspects of the loan is final.
*At no time will any member of CASaV be involved in this process.
The Borrower
You identify a specific item you would like to borrow on the CASaV website. You will contact CASaV via the email links, CASaV will forward your details to the lender. The process of borrowing is solely an agreement between the borrower and lender* eg, duration of the loaned item, any reimbursement to the lender for any damage that may occur while in the possession of the borrower. The lender’s decision on all aspects of the loan is final.
*At no time will any member of CASaV be involved in this process
If you have got value from this initiative as a borrower, then please think about becoming a lender – contact waste@climateactionstokesleyandvillages.org.
